Service User and Carer involvement is a key requirement for health education programmes. The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the General Optical Council (GOC) both expect programmes they accredit to actively include the perspectives of service users and carers. This ensures that education remains person-centred and aligned with real-world needs.
Our groups
The School of Health Professions currently supports two active Service User and Carer Groups:
- Social Work Service User and Carer Consultative Group
Established in 2002, this group contributes to the BA and MA Social Work programmes and also supports Clinical Psychology. - School of Health Professions Service User and Carer Group
This group represents the remaining professions within the school, including Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Paramedicine, Physiotherapy, and Podiatry. Some members participate in both groups to share expertise and strengthen collaboration.
